Buddies Jah Prayzah and Suluman Chimbetu will cement their relationship when they perform at the newly opened club Private Lounge near Holly’s Hotel on August 29. The two musicians, who are currently the hottest combination in town, will be launching the venue’s official summer calendar. Private Lounge, whichopened its doors a few weeks ago, is arguably one of the best clubs in town and has many celebrities and socialites lining up to throw their parties.
The club is likely to be the talk of the town this festive season and despite its location, in downtown Harare, has already seen big spenders frequenting the exclusive place.
Proprietor Biggie Chinoperekwei says he does not plan to hold too many musical gigs at the venue as it is meant to be a lounge where big spenders relax in a not-too-noisy environment.
“This show is like a tradition. Right now Jah Prayzah and Suluman are big players in sungura, so it is only appropriate that they perform here.
“That way we will know what changes need to be made to accommodate any such big artistes next time,” said Chinoperekwei.
Complete with intelligent lighting, a ramp, leather interior, soundproof and a state-of-the-art sound system, Private Lounge is set to be this summer’s venue of choice.
The much-awaited midweek Suluman-Jah Prayzah show which is expected to attract the who-is-who in showbiz circles, could not have come at a better time.
The two artistes command a diverse and large crowd, which they are failing to adequately cater for as they hold shows mainly on weekends.
“We perform mainly during weekends and family shows, but we forget a very important constituency of our fans and colleagues who are busy during weekends.
“This is their show and we would want them to join us in commissioning this new club in an exciting and exclusive manner,” said Suluman, popularly known as Sulu.
His comrade in music, Jah Prayzah, who is also enjoying a purple patch, said the August 29 show was for all artistes, promoters, waitresses and many other showbiz people who are busy during weekends.
He added that considering the lavishness of the club, the Summer Ignition Gig was, above all, for the music lovers who enjoy having a good time.
