Nas has confirmed speculation that Amy Winehouse wrote her classic track ‘Me & Mr. Jones’ in dedication to him, saying that someone told him it was written for him.
The pair struck up a friendship a few years ago and were often snapped leaving parties with each other. It was also rumoured that their friendship may have been more than platonic when Amy wrote the song ‘Me & Mr. Jones,’ in reference to Nas’ last name Jones.
Now, the rapper has revealed the truth behind the track, telling XXLMag.com: “I don’t really remember if Salaam, who was really close to her, who introduced us, if he told me about it or not. I don’t remember right now. But, I heard a lot about it before I even heard the song.”
Amy tragically passed away in July, and Nas recently recalled fond memories of the singer, saying that she was a “genuine person.”
