DECORATED Jamaican chanter, Lutan Fya — real name Anthony Martin — will be jetting into the country TODAY, H-Metro can exclusively reveal. Lutan Fya will touch down at the Harare International Airport aboard the last flight from Johannesburg ahead of his one-off special performance at Kebab Centre in the capital on September 23.
The star performer will be supported by the country’s premier dancehall music kingpins Legendary Sounds, Judgement Yard, Potato, Silverstone Sounds, Stereo 1 International, DJ Flevah and Yagga. In an exclusive interview with H-Metro, one of the show organisers Yungsen I-Randu Chirandu from Judgement Yard confirmed that they had already sealed the deal with the Jamaican dancehall kingpin.
“We have already signed on the dotted lines.
“Lutan Fya was in Spain last week and he landed in Joburg on Monday. “Tomorrow (today) he will be landing at the Harare International Airport and return for a show in South Africa next Monday. “Upon his return, a welcome party will be hosted for him at Red Fox on September 21 and the main show at Kebab on September 23.
“We promise fireworks because Lutan Fya is one of the hottest in the industry right now,” said I-Randu.
I-Randu added that the purpose of Lutan Fya’s visit was for rehearsals with a local outfit before the main act. “Lutan Fya will be rehearsing with a local band and we have lined up the best reggae session instrumentalists like Isaac Chirwa and the like.
“After the main show he will leave for a show in Cape Town,” said I-Randu of the Staera Staera fame. Lutan Fya was groomed by jailed superstar Buju Banton and he recorded his first songs at Buju’s Gargamel Records in 1999. He has collaborated with the best in the business like Luciano and Turbulence. Locally, Lutan Fya’s hit song Come Over (on the Major and Minor riddim) is the BIGGEST club banger at the moment.
Most of his songs are hits in commuter omnibuses, parties and dancehall clubs. Luton FYA boasts of six albums in his discography, according to the Jamaican Observer online edition. With such a decorated track record Lutan Fya is expected to ‘burn’ Red Fox and Kebab Centre this month.
